Harris Elementary at the 2011 AISD Citywide Showcase!

Leap of Joy! is a non-profit organization empowering young people through dance & creative movement. Through grants and private donations we are able to offer after school programming for elementary aged students at no cost to their families. Each class learns foundational ballet techniques, a variety of modern dance , hip hop ,  jazz , musical theater  and fundamentals of choreography.

In addition to the joy of movement,  we promote healthy and fit lifestyle choices! We provide healthy snacks and homework help at the end of every class.

We see performance art as a powerful tool for building community and bringing out our student’s individual strengths. At the end of the academic year, the students are offered at least two performance opportunities, one at their respective school and one for the AISD All-City showcase.

At Leap of Joy! our mission is to build self confidence; celebrate differences, instead of judging others;  provide a place to feel safe and to be free, to have a moment to shine and feel amazing, and above all else to learn about dance.
